Women's Bowling Finishes Fourth at NAIA National Championship

LANSING, Mich. - The Ottawa women's bowling team ended their season with a fourth place finish at the NAIA National Championship in Lansing.

On the first day, Ottawa took on Morningside in a mega match format, where they fell 2-0 and were sent to the elimination bracket. That began Friday morning with the elimination format being best of seven baker games, and the Braves took on Milligan in the first round. They beat the Buffaloes 4-2 and got their revenge against Morningside in the next round, winning 4-3. They beat Cumberland (TN) 4-2 in the elimination bracket final and set themselves up with a mega match against Pikeville. There, they were defeated 2-0.

Holly Bridges was named to the All-Tournament Team.

Coach Poston's Thoughts
"Our first round match wasn't a case of us getting beat, but us beating ourselves. We came back the next day and cleaned a lot of those things up and ended up winning three big matches in a row. This put us in the Final 4, which is the best showing in program history! We ended up losing in the Final 4 to the eventual Champion, Pikeville.  These girls were ranked in the top 10 all season. Thank you to all of the seniors for your hard work and dedication. We have a really good group returning up and down the roster. Pairing them with the incoming kids we should be in a position to be in the mix again next year."

The Ottawa women's bowling team ends their season with two tournament wins, three All-KCAC members, a KCAC Conference runners-up finish, and an NAIA National Championship appearance.
