MVB: Braves Down Central Christian in Three

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team is moving on to the GPAC Tournament Semifinals after defeating Central Christian College, 3-0; 25-11, 25-13, 23-17; on Saturday evening in Wilson Field House.

How it Happened
  • Ottawa dominated set one. The Braves jumped out to a 5-1 lead over Central Christian after a kill by Cade Berg. A block by Akeil Williams and Corey Johnson increased the OU lead to 11-4. Two straight kills by Brennan Hagar gave OU an 18-7 lead. Ottawa held the Tigers to four points for the remainder of the set as OU took the 25-11 victory.
  • In set two, Ottawa took a 9-3 lead on two straight service aces by Berg. Two kills by Johnson and a kill by Hagar pushed the OU lead to 14-6. Back-to-back kills by Trevan Johnson off sets by Isaac Rollenhagen gave Ottawa a 23-9 lead. CCC was not able to rally and the Braves took the 23-13 victory.
  • Ottawa scored the first three points of set three. Central Christian was able to cut OU's lead to 8-7. Ottawa answered by scoring the next two points and taking a 10-7 lead on a Kevin Davidson service ace. That is all the closer CCC was able to get to the Braves as Ottawa rolled to the 25-17 victory.
