OTTAWA, Kan. -  The Ottawa University football team was picked to finish sixth in the Coaches and Media Polls at the 2022 KCAC Football Virtual Media Day. The polls were determined by members of the league's media and coaches. The annual preseason poll was released on Thursday, July 28. Ottawa received 105 points from the media and 42 points from the conference coaches.
 
In the KCAC Media Poll, Kansas Wesleyan University was selected to capture the KCAC crown. The Coyotes received 206 points and eight first place votes. In second was Southwestern College, receiving 205 points and 10 first place votes. Rounding out the top three was Bethel College. The Threshers received 175 points and one first place vote. Avila University received the final first place vote and had 171 points for fourth. In fifth was McPherson College (120), sixth Ottawa University (105), seventh Friends University (85), eighth Sterling College (79), ninth University of Saint Mary (73), 10^th Tabor College (70), and 11^th Bethany College (31).
 
In the KCAC Coaches Poll, Southwestern College was picked to win conference this season. The Moundbuilders received 87 points and six first place votes. Kansas Wesleyan University was selected second, receiving 83 points and four first place votes. The KCAC coaches selected Avila University to finish third in conference and received 72 points. Fourth was Bethel College (68), fifth McPherson College (54), sixth Ottawa University (42), seventh Friends University (41), tied for eighth was Sterling College and the University of Saint Mary (35), 10^th Tabor College (22), and 11^th Bethany College (11).
 
The Braves will open the 2022 season Saturday, Sept. 3 at AdventHealth Field against Southwestern College. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
