COLUMBIA, Mo. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team fell 3-1; 25-19, 22-25, 19-25, 21-25; to no. 12 Eastern Oregon University on Friday morning.
How it Happened
- With Ottawa leading set one, 16-15. The Braves scored two straight on back-to-back kills by Radaisy Valdez to take an 18-15 lead over Eastern Oregon. After a EOU timeout, kills by Valdez and Lillian Holden increased the OU lead to 20-16. The Braves never relinquished its lead, taking set two, 25-19.
- Eastern Oregon opened set two by taking an early 7-4 lead. Ottawa chipped away at the deficit and after a kill by Valdez and a EOU attacking error, OU was within 15-14. The Braves were not able to get any closer, falling 25-22.
- Eastern Oregon took an early 6-2 lead over the Braves in set three. After the OU timeout, the Braves rallied and were within 12-11 on a Kaitlyn Haller service ace. Ottawa was able to tie the set on a block by Lillian Holden and Elli Rogers, 14-14. The Braves then took the lead two straight attacking errors by EOU, 16-14. Eastern Oregon rallied and took a 21-17 lead over the Braves. A Megan Wall kill put OU within 21-18. Ottawa was not able to ally, falling 25-19.
- In set four, Eastern Oregon jumped out to a 4-1 lead over the Braves. Ottawa rebounded from its slow start and tied the set on a Rogers block, 5-5. The set went back and forth with the Braves taking a 15-13 lead on a Rogers and Wall block. Eastern Oregon responded with four straight points, taking a 17-15 lead over the Braves. OU was not able to stage a final comeback and Eastern Oregon took the set, 25-21.
