OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's soccer team fell 3-0 to a quality Park Pirates squad at AdventHealth Field on Saturday afternoon.
The Pirates came out bombarding the Braves, forcing three big saves from Brave's keeper
Gage Powers in the opening 12 minutes. Park found a breakthrough against Powers in the 15th minute when a mishit clearance fell right to Parks Jakib Jones feet, who finally snuck one by the Braves keeper.
Powers was called into action again 34th minute , making back-to-back saves from two shots by Wayde Roman, with Powers stopping Roman's initial shot and then a rebound while still on the ground. The Braves headed into halftime still down 1-0.
The intensity picked up in the second half and things got a little chippy, with five yellows cards being shown in the half. The Braves had some quality chances to tie the game to open the second half, but Park's keeper Elias Eichhorn made two big saves against shots from
Slobodan Novicevic and
Francisco Arrua. The Pirates capitalized on the Brave's inability to finish, doubling their lead in the 64th minute by Mohamed Ndaliro. Jakib Jones added one more for the Pirates as finished the game 3-0 in the win over Ottawa.
