Braves Defeat Briar Cliff, 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team rebounded from an afternoon loss to defeat Briar Cliff University 3-0; 25-18, 25-13, 25-12; on Tuesday evening in Wilson Field House.

How it Happened
  • The Braves took an early 3-1 lead over Briar Cliff in set one after a block by Radaisy Valdez. BCU cut OU's lead to 5-4 but Ottawa answered with three straight points, taking an 8-4 lead on a Charger attacking error. The Braves increased their lead to 16-9 on a Valdez kill. The Chargers tried to rally, cutting OU's lead to 24-18. Ottawa took the set on the next point, a kill by Lillian Holden, 25-18.
  • Ottawa opened set two with a 5-0 lead over Briar Cliff. A BCU attacking error and a Haylee O'Meara kill gave the Braves an 11-4 lead. Ottawa controlled the remainder of the match, taking the 25-13 victory.
  • In set three, it was all OU. The Braves raced out to the early lead and had a 7-1 advantage over the Chargers after a kill by Jadore Hayes. BCU never threatened the OU lead and the Braves took the 25-12 victory.
