Braves Fall in Three to Kansas Wesleyan

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team fell 3-0; 25-19, 25-19, 26-24; to Kansas Wesleyan University on Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference match in Wilson Field House.

How it Happened
  • Kansas Wesleyan jumped out to a 6-1 lead over the Braves in set one. Ottawa rallied and after a kill by Elli Rogers, Ottawa was within 8-6 of the Coyotes. OU was not able to get any closer to KWU as the Coyotes took the 25-19 victory.
  • Two kills by Radaisy Valdez and a Kaitlyn Haller service ace gave OU a 5-2 lead over Kansas Wesleyan in set two. Ottawa pushed its lead to 10-5 after blocks by Rogers, Lillian Holden, and Haller. The Coyotes rallied, taking a 18-17 lead over the Braves. OU was not able to respond and KWU won the set, 25-19.
  • KWU scored the first three points of set three. Ottawa chipped away at the KWU lead and after a Holden kill and a Haylee O'Meara service ace, Ottawa led 16-14. The Coyotes answered with five straight points, taking a 19-16 lead over OU. The Braves staged a comeback, taking a 24-22 lead after a Valdez kill and a Holden block. Kansas Wesleyan responded by scoring the final four points of the set, taking the 26-24 victory.
