OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team earned its fifth straight victory, defeating Southwestern College 3-0; 25-15, 25-10, 25-15; on Wednesday evening in Wilson Field House.
How it Happened
- Southwestern scored the first point of set one. Ottawa answered with five straight points, taking a 5-1 lead. A kill by Lillian Holden, a service ace from Katarina Montoya, and a SWC attacking error increased the OU lead to 9-3. The Moundbuilders never threatened and the Braves took the 25-15 victory.
- In set two, Ottawa scored the first seven points. A kill by Radaisy Valdez pushed the OU lead to 12-1. Kills by Kaitlyn Haller and Elli Rogers increased the OU lead to 19-8. The Braves held SWC to two points the remainder of the set, taking the 25-10 victory.
- Ottawa jumped out to a 6-1 lead over Southwestern in set three. Three straight service aces by Mia Burge and a kill by Haylee O'Meara gave OU a 13-2 lead. Ottawa held the Mounbuilders in check for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-15 victory.
