OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell 99-66 to no. 22 Sterling College on Wednesday evening in Wilson Field House.

The Warriors opened the first quarter with a 14-0 run.. The Braves weathered the storm and cut the Sterling lead to six points, 14-8 after a Jayla Johnson basket with 6:03 left in the quarter.

Sterling responded with a 19-3 run to take a 33-11 lead over the Braves with 2:31 left in the first. Ottawa finished the first by outscoring Sterling 8-3 and SC had a 36-19 lead at the start of the second.

Ottawa continued to chip away at the Sterling lead in the second quarter. A 3-pt field goal by Cierra Brown cut the deficit to 11 points, 45-34 with 4:52 left in the half. The Warriors, however, ended the half by outscoring OU 19-11 to take a 64-45 lead into the locker room.

In the second half scoring slowed down. Sterling outscored the Braves 35-21, taking the 99-66 victory.

• Ottawa had a 27-24 lead in bench scoring. Sterling led 18-17 in fast break points, 28-16 in points off turnovers, 38-30 in points in the paint, and 17-6 in second chance points.
• Cierra Brown led the Brave with a double-double. She scored 16 points and had 10 assists. Brown also had three steals.
• Maria Moore finished the game with 11 points.
• Nicole Brown led OU with 12 rebounds and two blocks.
