HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell in overtime to Tabor College, 52-40, in Tabor Gymnasium on Saturday evening. It was the first time since Feb. 19, 2009 that a game between the two teams has gone into overtime.
The Braves started quarter no. 1 on fire, jumping out to a 16-4 lead over Tabor with 4:08 on the clock. The Bluejays were able to cut into the Brave lead and were within 16-8 at the start of the second.
Tabor continued to chip away at the OU lead and were within 16-15 at the 7:51 mark in the second quarter.
Cierra Brown scored the first points of quarter for the Braves, giving OU a 18-15 lead.
The Braves were able to push its lead to 21-17 on two
Cierra Brown Free throws with 2:28 left in the half. The Bluejays, however, outscored the Braves 5-0 in the final two minutes to take a 22-21 lead into the locker room.
Both teams struggled to score in the third quarter with a total of 15 points scored. Ottawa retook the lead at the 5:36 mark on a
Hailey Henry basket, 27-24. Ottawa was held to one point for the remaining of the quarter and Tabor took a 30-28 lead into the fourth.
The game went back and forth in the final quarter of play. A 3-pt play by
Cierra Brown gave OU a 40-38 lead with 2:01 left in regulation. That is where the score stayed until there was 33 seconds on the clock. Tabor's Zoe Rust hit a basket to tie the game at 40. Ottawa was not able to get a shot off with three seconds on the clock and the game went into overtime.
Ottawa failed to score in the overtime period as the Bluejays took the 52-40 victory.

- OU had three players in double figures led by Nicole Brown with 12 points and 15 rebounds. She also had two blocks. Jordan Bianco finished the game with 11 points and Cierra Brown scored 10 points.
