Braves to Play Falcons in Wilson Field House on Wednesday

The Braves defeated Bethel College last Saturday afternoon in Thresher Gymnasium, 91-80. Ottawa shot 45.5 percent from the floor, 55.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 53.6 percent from the free throw line. Amil Fields had a double-double, scoring 20 points and pulling down 10 rebounds Deondre Buggage scored 17 points, Ian Moore had 16 points, and Ty Bland finished with 14 points. Tristen Hull had 10 rebounds and Bland finished with nine rebounds. Ian Moore led OU with four assists and he had three steals.

Ottawa is led in scoring (16.1) and assists (2.1) per game by Deondre Buggage. Amil Fields is OU's leader in rebounding (7.6) and steals (1.4). Elijah Mason is OU's leader in blocks (0.5) per game.

At home this season, Ottawa has an overall record of 6-5, a 3-4 mark in the KCAC, and a home non-conference record of 3-1. In Wilson Field House, Ottawa is scoring 81.9 points per game while allowing 81.2.  OU and its opponents are shooting 43 percent from the floor in Wilson Field House, the difference is that OU is being out rebounded 495 to 439 and has given up an average of 12.3 offensive rebounds per game.

In Ottawa's 16 KCAC games, the Braves are scoring 80.1 points and shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, 40.9 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 70.6 percent from the free throw line. Wednesday's game is the 145th meeting between Ottawa University and Friends University. Ottawa leads the series, 84-60, and the Braves are on a four game winning streak against the Falcons. OU won the first meeting this season on Dec. 3 at the Garvey Center, 78-75, on a buzzer beater 3-pt field goal by Deondre Buggage.  The first ever meeting between Ottawa and Friends happened in 1910. OU won the game 28-26.

In the win over Friends in Wichita on Dec. 3, Ottawa shot 42.4 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 66.7 percent from the free throw line. OU had four players in double figures, led by Ty Bland's 18 points off the bench. Deondre Buggage scored 16 points, Elijah Mason finished with 12 points, and Amil Fields scored 10 points. Fields led the Braves with nine rebounds and four steals. Bland finished the game with four assists.

The Braves have won four straight games at home against the Falcons. The last time OU fell to Friends in Wilson Field House was on Jan. 10, 2018. Friends won the game, 91-73.

The last two games between Ottawa and Friends have been decided by an average of three points.

Friends University has an overall record of 4-18, a KCAC mark of 3-13, and a road record of 1-10. The Falcons have lost four straight games with losses to Bethel (82-66) on Jan. 18, Kansas Wesleyan (95-64) on Jan. 23, Avila (72-61) on Jan. 26, and Oklahoma Wesleyan (84-59) on Jan. 28.

In the loss to Oklahoma Wesleyan University last Saturday in Wichita, Friends shot 39.3 percent from the floor, 28.6 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 69.2 percent from the free throw line. Tim Barbieri led the Falcons in scoring with 15 points, El Emerllahu finished the game with 11 points, and Ian Konek came off the bench to score 10 points. Friends was outrebounded 48-28 and gave up 19 offensive rebounds to the Eagles.

This season Friends is averaging 73.2 points, 36.8 rebounds, and 14.5 assists per game. The Falcons are shooting 44.7 percent from the floor, 31.5 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 66.8 percent from the free throw line.

Friends is led in scoring (14.1) by Ian Koneck, Tim Barbieri is the team's leader in rebounding (8.1) Koneck is the Falcons' leader in assists (1.7), Barbieri leads the team in blocks (0.9), and Konek is Friends' leader in steals (0.8) per game.

Since the month of November, the Falcons points per game average has decreased each month. November: 73.6, December: 71.2, and January: 69.6.

In Friends' four wins, the Falcons are averaging 88.8 points and shooting 50 percent from the floor. In its 18 losses, Friends is averaging 69.7 points and shooting 43.5 percent from the floor.

The Falcons are averaging 68.5 points per game in 11 road contests this season. They are shooting 42.9 percent from the floor, 29.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 65.7 percent from the free throw line.
