(21) Women's Volleyball Downs Avila, 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. – The (21) Ottawa University women's volleyball team earned its 15th victory of the season with a 3-0; 25-8, 25-21, 25-17; win over Avila University on Wednesday evening in Wilson Field House. The win is OU's 16th straight over the Eagles.

How it Happened
  • Ottawa dominated set one, setting the tone by taking a 12-2 lead to open the set. OU only allowed the Eagles to score six more points in the set, taking the 25-8 victory.
  • In set two, it was Avila with the early lead and had the one point advantage, 8-7, over the Braves. Ottawa scored the next three points, taking a 10-8 lead on a block by Lillian Holden. Kills by Radaisy Valdez and Katelyn Elstun gave the Braves a 22-15 lead over Avila. The Eagles tried to rally, scoring the next six points to get within 22-21 of the Braves. Ottawa answered by scoring the final three points set, taking the 25-21 victory.
  • Avila opened set three with a 4-2 lead over the Braves. Ottawa rallied and after an AU attacking error, led 6-4. The Braves were able to push its lead to four points, 14-10, on a kill by Kira Cherry. Avila was not able to stage a comeback and the Braves took the 25-17 victory.

  • The Braves finished the three set match with 35 kills, a .196 attacking percentage, 33 assists, five service aces, 58 digs, and nine team blocks.
  • Radaisy Valdez led the Braves with 11 kills. She had a .421 attacking percentage.
  • Ryleigh Sander finished the match with 17 assists. Madison Brauner had 13 assists.
  • Kennedi Wyrick tallied four service aces and eight digs.
  • Jadore Hayes had 26 digs.
  • Lillian Holden finished the contest with nine blocks.
