OTTAWA, Kan. – The (25) Ottawa University women's volleyball team defeated Evangel University 3-0; 25-21, 25-20, 25-22; on Wednesday night in Wilson Field House.
How it Happened
- The Braves took a 9-6 lead over Evangel on a kill by Lillian Holden in set one. The Valor scored the next five points, taking an 11-9 lead. Ottawa answered with a 6-1 run to retake the lead, 15-12, on a block by Kira Cherry and Radaisy Valdez. OU did not allow Evangel to rally, taking the 25-21 victory.
- With set two tied 8-8, Ottawa scored the next five points to take a 13-8 lead. Evangel rallied, cutting OU's lead to 14-13. OU extended its lead on kills by Valdez and Chaney Barth gave OU a 17-14 lead. Ottawa never surrendered its lead, taking a 25-20 victory.
- In set three, Evangel had an 18-14 lead over the Braves, leading to an OU time out. Ottawa came out of the time out and scored four straight points to tie the set at 18 all. The Valor retook the lead, 19-18 on an OU attacking error. Ottawa then answered with three straight points, taking a 21-19 lead after a Barth kill and two Valor miscues. EU cut OU's lead to 21-20 but kills by Holden and Katelyn Elstun gave the Braves a 23-20 lead. The teams exchanged points and Ottawa led 24-22. OU ended the set on the next point, a block by Valdez and Elstun, to take the 25-22 victory.
