Men's Basketball Wins Home Opener Over Kansas Christian, 103-91

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's basketball team defeated Kansas Christian College, 103-91, on Friday night in Wilson Field House in the home opener.

Ottawa's offense was electric in the first 9:24 of the game. The Braves opened the game on a 27-10 run. OU increased its lead to 19 points, 33-14, on a 3-pt field goal by Ricardo Zambrano.

Kansas Christian chipped away at the Ottawa lead and was within 36-27 with 5:05 to go in the half. The Braves increased its lead back to double digits on a 3-pt field goal by Deondra Buggage, 43-31, at the 2:38 mark.

The Falcons answered by ending the half on a 11-3 run and the Braves had a 45-42 lead at the half.

The Braves opened the second half aggressively on both ends, increasing its lead back to double digits. Angok Anyang's 3-pt field goal gave the Braves a 62-49 lead. Kansas Christian rallied and cut OU's lead to 68-63 with 11:41 to go in the second half.

 The Braves increased its lead back to double figures on a Kamren Woods' jumper, 84-73. Two free throws by Buggage gave OU an 89-75 lead with 6:12 left in the contest. Ottawa did not allow a Kansas Christian rally in the final six minutes of the game, taking the 103-91 victory.
