OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's basketball team fell 91-71 to Sterling College on Wednesday evening in Wilson Field House in the KCAC opener.
The Braves had a 6-0 lead over Sterling after back-to-back 3-pt field goals by
Abby Dietsche. Sterling rallied, taking a 14-10 lead over the Braves with 4:09 to go in the first quarter. Ottawa cut into the SC lead on a 3-pt field goal by
Janiyah Hendricks, 14-13. The Warriors responded by ending the quarter on an 8-3 run, taking a 22-16 lead in to the second.
In the second quarter, Sterling was able to push its lead to 15 points, 40-25. Ottawa was not able to cut the deficit to single digits and SC led 47-33 at the half.
An old fashioned 3-pt play by
Kennedy Bankett and a 3-pt field goal from Hendricks put OU within 50-39 in the opening minutes of the third quarter.
That, however, was all the closer that the Braves were able to get to the Warriors as Sterling took the 91-71 victory.
