(25) Women's Volleyball Ends Regular Season With Three Set Sweep of York

YORK, Neb. – The (25) Ottawa University women's volleyball team finished the regular season with a 3-0; 25-19, 25-23, 25-15; victory over York University on Saturday afternoon at the Freeman Center.

How it Happened
  • Ottawa fell behind early in set one but rallied to take an 8-6 lead over York on kills by Lillian Holden and Jane Ertl. A Panther attacking error and a Jazlyn Westmoreland kill increased the OU lead to 11-7. The Braves continued to build upon its lead. A kill by Radaisy Valdez gave the Braves a 16-10 advantage of the Panthers, leading to YU time out. York came out of the time out and went on a 7-2 run to cut OU's lead to 18-17. That, however, is all the closer York would get to the Braves and OU took the 25-19 victory.
  • The Braves took the early 6-1 lead over the Panthers in set no. 2. York did not go away and rallied to take a 15-13 lead over the Braves. Ottawa responded with a 5-0 run and after kills by Bailee Nickel and Valdez, OU had an 18-15 lead over York. YU attempted to rally once more and tied the set at 23-23. That is the last tie of the set as the Braves scored the next two points, taking the 25-23 victory.
  • OU scored the first eight points of set three. York answered with six straight of its own, cutting the Brave lead to 8-6. Ottawa was able to increase its lead and after a block by Ertle and Holden and a Panther miscue, OU led 13-9. The Braves did not the Panthers to rally, and OU took the 25-15 victory.
