OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's basketball team was defeated 74-57 by no. 8 Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Saturday night in Wilson Field House.
There were six ties and two lead changes in the first half with both teams struggling to score. Five straight points by
Deondre Buggage tied the game at 16 all with 9:06 on the clock.
OKWU retook the lead and had a 26-22 advantage over the Braves with 4:13 left in the half. Ottawa tied the game, for the fifth time, on four straight points by
Kamren Woods. The Eagles retook the lead with 29 seconds on the clock on free throws, 31-29.
Tristen Hull tied the game on layup, off a steal by
Elijah Mason and the game was tied 31-31 at the half.
The Eagles opened the second half on a 19-8 run and led 50-39 with 12:29 on the clock. Ottawa cut the lead to six, 53-47, on a 3-pt field goal by
Ricardo Zambrano at the 8:54 mark.
OKWU responded with a 14-0 run to take a 67-47 lead over OU with 3:28 left in the game. Ottawa was not able to rally and the Eagles took the 74-54 victory.
