Box Score OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's basketball team fell 75-72 on Senior Night to the University of Saint Mary in Wilson Field House on Saturday afternoon.
The University of Saint Mary took an early 17-10 lead over the Braves in the first five minutes of the first half. OU rallied and tied the game 27 on a basket by
Ian Moore with 9:43 to go in the half.
The Braves scored the next seven points and led 34-27 after a 3-pt field goal by
Elijah Mason. Saint Mary cut into the OU lead and was within 34-33 with 1:30 left in the first half. Two free throws by
Kamren Woods gave Ottawa a 36-33 lead. USM again cut OU's lead to one point, 36-35 with 57 seconds on the clock. OU was able to score the final points of the half on a
Deondre Buggage layup and the Braves took a 38-35 lead into the locker room.
The Spires opened the second half on a 19-6 run, taking a 54-44 lead over the Braves. USM pushed its lead to 64-51 with 5:58 on the clock. The Braves did not go away and responded with a run of their own and outscored the Spires 15-4. After two free throws by Bland, OU trailed 68-67.
USM answered with the next four points and increased its lead to 72-67 with 29 seconds on the clock. Braves again cut into the Spire lead. A 3-pt field goal by Buggage put OU within 73-72 with seven seconds left in the game.
Ottawa fouled and USM's Cameron Southern made both free throws. Buggage attempted a three at the buzzer but the shot was no good and USM took the 75-72 victory.
