SALINA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team fell 3-1; 25-20, 22-25, 25-20, 25-19; to Kansas Wesleyan University on Friday night in Mabee Arena.
How it Happened
- KWU opened set one with a 4-1 lead over the Braves. Ottawa answered with five straight points, taking a 6-4 lead on a Grant Younie kill. OU held the lead for most of the set and after a KWU service error, had the 18-14 advantage. KWU rallied, getting within 19-18 of the Braves. Ottawa scored the next point, taking a 20-18 lead. The Braves were not able to score for the remainder of the set as KWU scored the next seven points, taking a 25-20 victory.
- Ottawa took a 5-2 lead on a Akeil Williams and Younie block in set no. 2. OU pushed its lead to 14-11 on a Coyote attacking error. KWU tried to stage a comeback and were with in 24-22 of the Braves. Ottawa was able to take the set on the next point, a Trevan Johnson kill, taking the 25-22 victory.
- The Braves took the early lead in set three, 5-2, after a Williams service ace. KWU chipped away at the Brave lead and took its first lead of the set, 8-7. The Braves were not able to rally and the Coyotes took the set, 25-20.
- Ottawa led set four, 13-10, on a Younie kill. KWU rallied and went on a 11-1 run to take a 21-14 lead over the Braves. Ottawa was not able to rebound and Kansas Wesleyan took the 25-19 victory.
