Braves Down No. 14 Dordt, 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's volleyball team upset no. 14 Dordt University 3-0; 26-24, 25-22, 25-23; on Saturday afternoon in Wilson Field House. It is OU's first win over a NAIA Top 15 team since Feb. 21, 2019 when the Braves defeated, then, no. 3 Park University 3-1 in Wilson Field House.

How it Happened
  • The Braves jumped out to an 8-4 lead over Dordt after a block by Macort Pickup and Kadeem Morris in set one. The Defenders rallied and tied the set at 12-12. The teams exchanged points and the set was tied once more, 24-24. The Braves ended the set by scoring the next two points, kills by Macort Pickup, to take the 26-24 lead.
  • Ottawa scored the first three points of set two, taking the early lead. A block by Michal Bak, a kill by Kadeem Morris, and a DU attacking error gave the Braves a 9-5 lead. The Defenders rallied, taking a 17-16 lead over OU. Ottawa responded by scoring the next four points, taking a 20-17 lead on a block by Grant Younie and Kadeem Morris. Dordt scored the next two points, cutting OU's lead to 20-19. Kills by Younie and Bak and a DU attacking error gave OU a 23-19 lead. Dort was not able to stage a comeback and Ottawa took the 25-22 victory.
  • In set three, Ottawa took an 11-8 lead over the Defenders. Dordt scored the next four points, taking the 12-11 lead over the Braves. DU pushed its lead to 23-20 over the Braves. After a timeout by the Braves, Ottawa ended the set on a 5-0 run, taking the 25-23 victory.
