OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV)Ottawa University women's lacrosse team fell to the No. 6 Missouri Baptist Spartans on Saturday afternoon, with the final score finishing 18-7 at Adventhealth Field.
Much of the first quarter was a back and forth affair between the two teams. McKenzie Simmons scored the first three goals for OU, recording a hat trick at the 5:24 mark of the first period to put the Braves down 4-3. The Spartans were able to open up their lead by closing out the first period on a 4-1 run to take a 8-4 lead into the break.
Simmons made it 8-5 to start off the second period, but the Spartans once again reeled off three straight goals to push their lead back to 11-5. OU looked to threaten once more with two straight goals from
Dinah Hinson and
Ashley Santillan, cutting their deficit to 11-7. The Spartans locked down towards the end of the match, claiming the 18-7 win by going on a 7-0 run to close the game.
