Ottawa, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's lacrosse team emerged victorious against the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy on March 31, 2023. The final score was 23-4, with Ottawa dominating the game from the start.
Mackenzie Simmons led the way for Ottawa with four goals, while
Cecily Anderson and
Dinah Hinson both contributed three goals each.
Ashley Santillan,
Meagan Gilstrap,
Felicia Dixon,
Curstin Brown, and
Faith Ruoff also added to Ottawa's impressive scoreline.
On the opposing side, Michelle Le and Mia Gibbs scored two goals each for the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy, but they were unable to match Ottawa's offensive firepower.
Ottawa's defense was equally impressive, with goalkeepers
Shelby Bearden and
Alyssa Jenne making several saves throughout the game. The team's strong defensive effort limited the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy's scoring opportunities.
"We played a really solid game today," said Ottawa's head coach
Kyle Beard after the match. "Our offense was firing on all cylinders, and our defense was able to shut down their attack. It's always great to see our team come together and perform at such a high level."
The win improves Ottawa's record to 5-3 on the season, while the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy falls to 0-4.
