(RV)WLAX Takes Down Spires 24-4 in Regular Season Finale, Anderson Sets School Points Record

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. -- The (RV)Ottawa lacrosse team displayed an outstanding performance as they defeated Saint Mary with a commanding 24-4 victory in a thrilling match held at Leavenworth, Kansas. With 11 points today against the Spires, Cecily Anderson became OU's all-time career leader with 203 points.

From the very start, Ottawa showed their offensive prowess, with Anderson, Dinah Hinson, and Mackenzie Simmons scoring early goals to give Ottawa a 6-1 lead in the first quarter. Saint Mary managed to respond with goals from Paige Ecton and Haley Pettis, but Ottawa's offensive firepower proved too much for them to handle.

In the second quarter, Ottawa continued to dominate, with Mackenzie Simmons scoring a hat-trick and Shannon Carroll and Isabella Pagliei adding to the goal tally. Ottawa's defense also stood strong, limiting Saint Mary's scoring opportunities and maintaining a comfortable lead of 15-3 by halftime.

The third quarter saw Ottawa's offense continuing to shine, with Dinah Hinson, Mackenzie Simmons, and Ashley Santillan finding the back of the net. Saint Mary managed to score a goal from Alexis Colpitts, but it was not enough to catch up to Ottawa's commanding lead.

In the final quarter, Ottawa continued to showcase their offensive prowess, with Cecily Anderson, Shannon Carroll, and Meagan Gilstrap adding to the goal tally. Anderson's goal in the closing minutes of the game marked her seventh of the match, securing a well-deserved victory for Ottawa with a final score of 24-4.

"We are incredibly proud of our team's performance today," said Coach Kyle Beard. "Our offense was firing on all cylinders, and our defense showed great discipline and determination. It was a true team effort, and we are thrilled with the result."
