Braves Unable to Stop Columbia Comeback in KCAC Championship

ST. LOUIS -- The Ottawa University men's lacrosse team fell to the Columbia College Cougars 15-14 in the KCAC Men's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday afternoon at the Spartan Sports Complex on the campus of Missouri Baptist University. 

The game got off to a fast start with Ottawa scoring the first goal of the match in just over two minutes. Columbia's Derek Howard quickly responded a few minutes later with a goal of his own to tie the game. However, Ottawa managed to take control of the game and scored two more goals in the first quarter, while Columbia could only manage one more goal. At the end of the first quarter, Ottawa led Columbia 4-2.

In the second quarter, Ottawa continued to dominate, scoring four more goals and limiting Columbia to just two goals. By halftime, Ottawa led Columbia 10-4, and the game seemed to be slipping away from Columbia.

Columbia, however, refused to give up and came out strong in the third quarter, with both teams scoring four goals in the quarter.. Ottawa's Vincent DeMarco scored his fifth goal of the game in the third quarter, managing to keep the gap at 14-8 at the end of the quarter.

In the final quarter of the game, Columbia continued their comeback, scoring seven goals to Ottawa's none. Ethan Houston and Derek Howard each scored two goals in the quarter, while Kellen Brechbill, John Thomas, Tyler Parrott, and Tyson Norris each contributed one goal. Ottawa was held scoreless in the final quarter, and Columbia won the game by a score of 15-14.

Derek Howard and Ethan Houston led Columbia's scoring with four goals apiece, while Vincent DeMarco led Ottawa's scoring with six goals.
