GREAT BEND, Kan. – The (14) Ottawa University softball team fell in its second game of the KCAC Tournament on Wednesday evening with a 4-2 loss to Avila University. The Braves will now move down to the loser's bracket and will look to make a run to the KCAC Championship Game.
Avila took the lead in the top of the first inning with three runs. The Eagles increased their lead over the Braves with a run in the top of the second, 4-0. Ottawa cut into the deficit in the bottom of the third.
With two outs,
Katie Enneking walked.
Allison Kearney moved Enneking to third with an infield single. Avila, however, committed an error and Enneking was able to score and the Braves were within 4-1.
That is where the score stayed until the bottom of the seventh. The Braves loaded the bases.
Hannah Copeland walked, scoring Enneking and Ottawa was down 4-2. Ottawa had the bases loaded once more and with only one out. OU was not able to score with runners in scoring position as Avila took the 4-2 victory.
