COLUMBIA, Mo. – The (22) Ottawa University women's volleyball team split its final two games of the Hampton Inn Classic on Saturday. Ottawa fell 3-0 to (16) Indiana Wesleyan University but rebounded to defeat (RV) John Brown University, 3-1.

How it Happened
- Indiana Wesleyan jumped out to a 9-3 lead over the Braves in set one. Ottawa was not able to recover from its slow start and the Wildcats took the 25-12 victory.
- Ottawa scored the first four points of set no. 2. IWU responded with four straight points of its own, tying the set at four all. A kill by Chaney Barth and a Wildcat miscue gave the Braves a 7-5 lead. Indiana Wesleyan answered with four straight points, taking a 9-7 lead over OU. Ottawa scored the next two points, a kill and a block by Blythe Monson, to tie the set at nine. However, with the set tied at 11, IWU went on a 6-1 run to take a 17-12 lead over OU. The Braves were not able to answer, and IWU took the 25-14 victory.
- The Braves lead 5-2 at the start of set three after a block by Jontara West. The Wildcats rallied to take a 15-9 lead over OU. Ottawa did not go away and after a kill by Reile Payne and a service ace by Jadore Hayes, Ottawa was within 19-15. OU was not able to complete its rally, falling 25-19 to IWU.

- Ottawa had the early 4-3 lead over John Brown in set one but the Golden Eagles scored the next five points to take an 8-4 lead. The Braves stayed within striking distance and tied the set, 20-20 on a Chaney Barth kill. JBU answered with three straight points to take a 23-20 lead. The Braves were not able to rally and the Golden Eagles took the 25-22 victory.
- The Braves opened set two with kills by Radaisy Valdez, Barth, and Kennedi Wyrick to take a 5-1 lead over JBU. John Brown chipped away and were able to take a 13-12 lead over the Braves. Four points later, OU led 16-13 after a kill by Kira Cherry. The Braves never surrendered their lead for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-23 victory.
- John Brown had a 12-8 lead over the Braves at the start of set three. Ottawa rallied with six straight points, taking a 14-12 lead on a Cherry kill. Three straight miscues by the Golden Eagles pushed the Brave lead to 17-13. JBU rallied, tying the set at 17 all. Ottawa responded by scoring the final eight points, taking the 25-17 victory on a Barth kill.
- With John Brown leading set four, 18-17, Ottawa scored the next three points to take the 20-18 lead. The Golden Eagles scored the next point to cut OU's lead to 20-19. Ottawa responded by scoring the next three points on kills by Payne, Cherry, and Barth to take a 23-19 lead. JBU did not rally and the Braves took the 25-21 victory.
