OTTAWA, Kan. – The (23) Ottawa University women's volleyball team defeated Bethany College 3-0; 25-17, 25-17, 25-17; on Friday afternoon in Wilson Field House. The win is OU's 11th straight over the Swedes.
How it Happened
- Ottawa scored the first four points of set one. A Radaisy Valdez kill and service ace gave the Braves a 9-6 lead. Two attack errors by the Swedes increased the OU lead to 16-12. The Braves never surrendered their lead, taking the 25-17 victory.
- A kill by Valdez and two Bethany miscues gave the Braves a 6-3 lead in set two. A kill by Reile Payne and a Carson Schuman service ace gave OU a 12-8 lead over Bethany. Ottawa continued to build upon its lead and after a Chaney Barth kill, Ottawa led 22-13. OU held Bethany in check for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-17 victory.
- Bethany took an early 3-1 lead over the Braves in set three. Ottawa rallied, taking a 7-5 lead on a Barth kill. A block by Valdez and Barth and a Kennedi Wyrick service ace gave the Braves an 18-10 lead. Bethany was not able to rally and the Braves took a 25-17 victory.
