Men's Basketball's Rally Falls Short to Tabor, 76-73

HILLSBORO, Kan. – The Ottawa University men's basketball team fell 76-73 to Tabor College in Tabor Gymnasium on Wednesday evening. The Braves were down by as much as 19 points in the game before tying the contest at 67 all. OU was not able to complete the comeback, falling by three to the Bluejays.

Tabor had a 17-2 lead over the Braves at the 14:29 mark in the first half. The Bluejays pushed their lead to 19 points, 37-18 with 5:48 on the clock. The Braves chipped away at the Tabor lead and trailed 41-30 at the half.

The Bluejays scored the first five points of the second half to increase their lead to 46-30. Ottawa did not wilt and started its comeback. OU outscored Tabor, 37-21, to tie the game at 67 all with 3:26 remaining in regulation.

Tabor retook the lead by scoring the next five points and led 72-67. Deondre Buggage's basket with 1:35 on the clock cut the Bluejay lead to 73-71. Tabor answered quickly with a 3-pt field goal to increase its lead to 76-71.

Ottawa cut into the lead again with another basket by Buggage and trailed 76-73 with 57 seconds left in the contest. After a defensive stop by the Braves, Buggage attempted a three, it was no good and Tabor rebounded the ball with 19 seconds on the clock.

OU's defense held once more, and Ottawa had the ball with 13 seconds on the clock. The 3-pt field goal attempt at the buzzer by Kamren Woods was no good and Tabor held on for the 76-73 victory.
