NORTH NEWTON, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team fell 3-2; 23-25, 25-23, 15-25, 25-23, 11-15; to Bethel College on Saturday afternoon in Thresher Gymnasium.
How it Happened
- The Braves fell behind 10-5 to Bethel in set one. Ottawa chipped away at the Thresher lead and after a block by Ariana Arciniega and Campbell Stark, OU was within 21-20. The Braves were not able to complete the rally and Bethel took the 25-23 victory.
- Ottawa took a 6-5 lead over Bethel in set two on a BC attacking error. A kill by Radaisy Valdez and a Thresher attacking error gave the Braves a 9-8 lead over Bethel. The Threshers answered with a run, taking a 15-11 lead over the Braves. Ottawa did not go away and responded with a run of its own, taking a 16-15 lead on a block by Kira Cherry and Stark. Bethel retook the lead, 21-19 but four straight points by OU gave the Braves a 23-21 lead. Bethel scored the next two points, tying the set at 23 all. Ottawa was able to end the set on kills by Cherry and Hollie Peters, taking the 25-23 victory.
- The Threshers took a 5-2 lead over OU at the start of set three. Bethel increased its lead over the Braves 15-8. OU was only able to score seven more points in the set, falling 25-15 to Bethel.
- The Braves took a 5-2 lead in set four on a block by Stark and Cherry. A kill by Valdez and a block by Valdez and Cherry gave OU a 12-9 advantage over the Threshers. Bethel rallied to tie the set at 15. OU went on a mini, 5-3 run to take a 20-17 lead on a block by Cherry and Valdez. BC answered with four straight points, taking a 21-20 lead over OU. With Bethel leading 23-22, Ottawa scored the final three points of the set to get the victory. Cherry's kill tied the set, 23-23. A block by Stark and Brittan Lee gave OU the 24-23 lead. Ottawa took the set on the next point, a Thresher attacking error, 25-23.
- Ottawa led 6-5 in set five after a block by Peters and Valdez. Bethel went on a 7-2 run, taking the 12-8 lead. Ottawa rallied and after a kill by Cherry and two straight Thresher attacking errors, the Braves trailed 12-11. That is all the closer the Braves were able to get. Bethel scored the final three points of the set, taking the 15-11 victory.

- Radaisy Valdez led OU with 15 kills. She had a .400 attacking percentage and six blocks.
