OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team swept Friends University 3-0; 25-20, 25-18, 25-13; in Wilson Field House on Wednesday evening.
How it Happened
- Ottawa jumped out to the early lead in set one. Kills by Kira Cherry and Ariana Arciniega gave OU a 5-3 lead over Friends. Three straight attacking errors by the Falcons and a kill from Campbell Stark increased the OU lead to 12-7. The Falcons chipped away at the OU lead and were within 19-18. That is all the closer that Friends would get. Ottawa increased its lead to 21-18 on a block by Radaisy Valdez. Ottawa did not allow Friends to rally, and the Braves took the set 25-20.
- Friends scored the first three points of set two but OU responded with a 6-2 run, taking a 6-5 lead on a block by Brittan Lee. Friends did not go away and retook the lead, 17-16. A Falcon service error and a kill by Hollie Peters gave the Braves an 18-17 lead. Friends scored the next point, tying the set at 18 all. However, that was the last point the Falcons scored for the rest of the set. Ottawa finished on a 7-0 run, taking the victory 25-18.
- Ottawa dominated set no. 3. OU scored the first 11 points and never looked back, taking the win 25-13.
