(RV) Women's Volleyball Falls in a Tightly Contested Match to (20) McPherson

OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team fell 3-1; 21-25, 26-28, 26-24, 19-25; to (20) McPherson College in Wilson Field House on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • McPherson scored the first four points of set one. Ottawa responded with a 5-1 run, tying the set at five all. McPherson retook the lead and led 12-8. The Braves were unable to rally and MC took the 25-21 victory.
  • The Braves took the early lead in set two and after a kill by Radaisy Valdez, led 10-7. OU built its lead to 17-12 after a kill by Ariana Arciniega and two MC attacking errors. The Bulldogs rallied, taking a 24-21 lead. Ottawa did not go away and took the lead, 25-24, on a block by Valdez and Kira Cherry. The teams exchanged points and OU led 26-25 after a Valdez kill. Ottawa was not able to close out the set. McPherson scored the next three points, taking the 28-26 victory.
  • Hollie Peters' kill gave the Braves a 6-4 lead over McPherson in set three. McPherson tied the set but the Braves responded with three straight points, taking a 10-7 lead over the Bulldogs. Ottawa continued to hold its lead and after a Cherry kill, the Braves had the 18-14 advantage. McPherson rallied and tied the set at 24-24. The Braves responded by scoring the next two points, taking the 26-24 victory on a Arciniega kill.
  • The Braves fell behind 12-3 in set four. OU was not able to rebound from its slow start and McPherson took the 25-19 victory.
