SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team defeated (RV) Evangel University 3-2; 17-25, 25-14, 25-21, 17-25, 15-12; on Wednesday night in AGFinancial Arena.
How it Happened
- Evangel took a 5-2 lead over the Braves in set one. The Valor extended their lead to 11-5, leading to an OU timeout. The Braves rallied and after two EU attacking errors, OU was within 13-10. That was all the closer the Braves were able to get to Evangel and the Valor took the 25-17 victory.
- After falling behind 4-2 in set two, Ottawa scored five straight points, taking a 7-4 lead over the Valor. A kill by Campbell Stark and Bailee Nickel gave OU a 10-7 lead. The Braves continued to build upon its lead. Kills by Ariana Arciniega and Hollie Peters increased the Brave lead to 18-11. Ottawa held the Valor in check for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-14 victory.
- Set three went back and forth with OU taking a 19-18 lead over the Valor. Evangel responded by scoring the next three points, to take a 21-19 lead. After an OU timeout, the Braves closed out the set. Ottawa scored the next six points, taking the 25-21 victory on a kill by Radaisy Valdez.
- Evangel opened set four with an 11-7 lead over the Braves. Ottawa was not able to rally and EU took the 25-17 victory.
- A kill by Kira Cherry and an EU attacking error gave the Braves a 5-1 lead in set five. A block by Arciniega and Stark increased the OU lead to 10-4. Evangel cut into the Brave lead and were within 13-10. A kill by Valdez gave Ottawa a 14-10 lead. The Valor scored the next two points to cut OU's lead to 14-12. Ottawa did not allow Evangel to complete the comeback. OU took the set and the match on the next point, a Valdez kill, 15-12.

- Loraine Ruiz led the Braves with 26 assists. Madison Brauner had a double-double. She finished the match with 25 assists and 12 digs.
