STERLING, Kan. – The Ottawa University women's volleyball team defeated Sterling College 3-0; 25-23, 25-22, 25-23; on Saturday afternoon at the Gleason Center.
How it Happened
- The Braves took an 8-6 lead over Sterling to start set one after a Campbell Stark kill. Sterling rallied and led 14-11. The Braves chipped away at the Warrior lead and tied the set on a SC attacking error, 17-17. Sterling answered by scoring the next four points to take a 21-17 lead. Ottawa responded and tied the set, 23-23, on a kill by Radaisy Valdez. A time out by the Warriors did not slow down the Braves. Ottawa scored the next two points, a service ace by Samantha Stahl and a Warrior attacking error, to take the 25-23 victory.
- Sterling had an 11-7 lead over the Braves in set two. Ottawa rallied and took a 19-17 lead on three straight Warrior miscues. Sterling was able to cut into the Brave lead and trailed 23-22. Ottawa responded by scoring the next two points, a kill by Ariana Arciniega and a block by Alexia Maynes and Stark, to take a 25-22 victory.
- The Braves raced out to an 11-3 lead over the Warriors in set three. Sterling cut into the Brave lead and were within 15-13. Ottawa was able to push its lead to 24-19 on a kill by Hollie Peters. Sterling answered by scoring four straight points and were down 24-23. Ottawa ended the set on the next point, a kill by Arciniega, 25-23.
