(RV) Women's Volleyball Moves Past Southwestern, 3-0

OTTAWA, Kan. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team defeated Southwestern College, 3-0; 28-26, 25-10, 25-23; on Wednesday night in Wilson Field House. OU won its 32nd straight match against the Moundbuilders and has not dropped a set to Southwestern in 10 straight matches.

How it Happened
  • Ottawa jumped out to a 6-2 lead over Southwestern in set one. The Moundbuilders rallied, and led 14-11 over OU. The Braves chipped away at the SWC lead and after back-to-back kills by Ariana Arciniega and a Moundbuilder attacking error, OU had a 16-15 lead. SWC responded with a 5-1 run, taking a 20-17 lead. Ottawa did not go away, tying the set at 25 all. A SWC attacking error gave OU a 26-25 lead. SWC tied the set on the next point, 26-26. The Braves closed out the set, scoring the next two points on a Campbell Stark kill and a block by Stark and Kira Cherry, 28-26.
  • The Braves jumped out to a 6-1 lead in set two. OU held Southwestern in check for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-10 victory.
  • Trailing 19-15 in set three, Ottawa scored seven straight to take a 22-19 lead on a block by Radaisy Valdez. Southwestern answered with three straight points, to tie the set 22-22. A kill by Bailee Nickel gave OU a 23-22 lead. Southwestern tied the set on the next point but OU scored the next two points and took the set on an Ariana Arciniega kill, 25-23.
