Najee Jones was named KCAC Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season. He had three steals and eight rebounds in OU's overtime victory against (RV) Kansas Wesleyan University last Saturday. Jones also scored 18 points and shot 43.8 percent from the floor, helping the Braves snap their six game losing streak to the Coyotes.
In OU's six wins, the Braves are scoring 90.3 points and shooting 47 percent from the floor. In their one loss, Ottawa scored 79 points and shot 38 percent from the floor.
Saturday is the 104th meeting between Ottawa University and McPherson College. Ottawa leads the series, 115-68. The teams split the season series last year. McPherson won on its home court last season, 93-81 on Dec. 9 and the Braves won in Wilson Field House, 81-79, on Feb. 14. OU has lost two straight road games against McPherson. The last time OU in McPherson was on Dec. 13, 2021, 93-85. The first ever meeting between the two teams was in 1910. Ottawa won the game, 40-25.
McPherson College is 2-3 overall and has a record of 0-2 in the KCAC. The Bulldogs have lost two straight games with losses to Southwestern College (89-86) on Nov. 16 and Kansas Wesleyan University (72-65) on Nov. 20.
