Men's Basketball Travels to Culver-Stockton on Wednesday

The Braves are on a two game winning streak after defeating Calvary University 114-53 last Friday night and Kansas Christian College 93-61 last Saturday at the Andy Carrier Memorial Basketball Classic in Wilson Field House.

Through four games this season, Ottawa is averaging 92 points, 48.5 rebounds, and 19 assists per game. They are shooting 48.8 percent from the floor, 29.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 73.8 percent from the free throw line.

Keith Robinson leads OU in scoring, averaging 19.3 points per game. He also leads the Braves in rebounds, averaging 7.5 rebounds per game. Deondre Buggage is OU's leader in assists per game (4.3), Alex Riddick leads Ottawa in blocks per game (1), and Najee Jones leads the team in steals per game (3.7).

Deondre Buggage became the 27th OU men's basketball player to score 1,000 points in an OU uniform in Ottawa's game against Kansas Christian College last Saturday. It took him two years and four games to accomplish the feat.

The Braves are ranked third in the NAIA in scoring (368), 33rd in points per game (92), 25th in field goals made per game (34.8), 21st in field goals attempted per game (71.3), 46th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (26.5), 36th in offensive rebounds per game (14.8), 10th in defensive rebounds per game (33.8), 12th in total rebounds per game (48.5), 24th in rebound margin (13.8), 23rd in assists per game (19), 48th in opponent turnovers per game (17), 45th in steals per game (10.3), 39th in points allowed per game (63.8), 26th in opponent field goal percentage (.367), 37th in opponent free throws attempted (25), second in field goal totals-attempts (139-285), 19th in 3-pt field goal total-attempts (31-106), and 15th in free throw total-attempts (59-80).

Wednesday's game is the 10th meeting between Ottawa University and Culver-Stockton College. Ottawa leads the series, 6-3. The last time the two teams met was on Feb. 20, 1982 in Wilson Field House. OU won the game, 104-86. Ottawa is 2-1 against Culver-Stockton in Canton, Mo. The last time OU played in Canton was on Dec. 4, 1981. The Wildcats won the game, 80-78. The first ever game between the two teams happened on Dec. 29, 1949 at the CofE Tournament in Emporia, Kan. CSC won the game 59-56.

Culver-Stockton College opened the 2024-25 season on Nov. 2 with an 86-78 road loss to College of the Ozarks. The Wildcats shot 42.6 percent from the floor, 26.7 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 85.7 percent from the free throw line. The Bobcats outscored CSC 23-12 from the free throw line. Connor Davis led the team in scoring with 19 points, Ryan Stevenson finished the game with 18 points, Nick Spannaus scored 12 points and Roee Dinnar came off the bench to score 10 points.

The Wildcats were selected to finish eighth in the Heart by the conference coaches. CSC finished the 2023-24 season with an overall record of 14-15 and a Heart mark of 12-12. They ended the season on a three game losing streak.

Connor Davis leads CSC in scoring. He is averaging 19 points per game. Roee Dinnar is the team's leader in rebounding, averaging nine rebound per game.

Culver-Stockton is ranked 46th in the NAIA in field goals attempted per game (68), 25th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (38), 12th in free throw percentage (.857), and 12th in turnovers per game (8).
