St. Joseph, Mo.- The Ottawa women's lacrosse team finished up their opening weekend with an 11-15 loss to Quincy on Sunday afternoon.
The Braves scored four goals in the first period, countered by Quincy's six. After halftime, the Hawks led 9-6. Quincy scored the first goal in the third period, but Ottawa scored four goals in a row to tie the game up at ten going into the final frame. The Hawks then scored five straight before a final Ottawa goal to end the game at 15-11.
Ottawa had four goalscorers-
Mackenzie Simmons with eight, and
Curstin Brown,
Isabella Pagliei, and
Felicia Dixon with one apiece.
Shelby Bearden made thirteen saves and led the team in groundballs with six.
Ottawa (0-2, 0-0 KCAC) returns to the field on Sunday, March 3 for their home opener against Saint Ambrose University. That game is scheduled to begin at 11 AM.
