(RV) Men's Volleyball Hosts Missouri Valley in its Home Opener on Tuesday

The Braves were defeated 3-0 by no. 12 Missouri Baptist University last Friday evening and 3-0 by UHSP last Saturday afternoon.

In the loss to MBU last Friday night, Ottawa finished the match with 25 kills, a .188 attacking percentage, 23 assists, three service aces, 22 digs, and four team blocks. In the loss to UHSP last Saturday, Ottawa finished the match with 30 kills, a .144 attacking percentage, 29 assists, two service aces, 25 digs, and eight team blocks.

This season, the Braves are averaging 10.6 kills per set, 10.1 assists per set, 2.3 blocks per set, 1.04 service aces per set, and 11.4 digs per set. OU has a .152 attacking percentage.

Ottawa is ranked 10th in the NAIA in kills (245), 32nd in kills per set (10.6), third in errors (139), third in total attacks (698), 41st in attacking percentage (.152), eighth in assists (234), 27th in assists per set (10.1), 19th in service aces (24), 25th in service errors (60), 44th in service aces per set (1.04), third in receptions (465), fourth in reception errors (45), second in digs (263), sixth in digs per set (11.4), 17th in solo blocks (12), third in block assists (82), fourth in total blocks (53), 10th in blocks per set (2.3), 39th in blocking errors (2), fifth in ball handling errors (4), ninth in points (322.0), and 31st in points per set (14.0).

Akeil Williams leads OU in kills, averaging 2.91 per set. Kade Zrna is Ottawa's leader in assists per set (5.1), Max Baumann is the team's leader in digs per set (2.2) and Williams leads the Braves in blocks per set (1.4).

Tuesday is the 15th meeting between Ottawa University and Missouri Valley College. The Vikings lead the series, 8-6, and are on a two match winning streak against the Braves. OU is 3-2 against MVC in Wilson Field House. Missouri Valley won the last match between the two teams on January 27, 2023 in Wilson Field House. MVC defeated the Braves 3-0; 25-23, 25-15, 25-19. The first time the two teams met was on Feb. 27, 2016. Missouri Valley won the match 3-1; 18-25, 25-21, 21-25, 20-25.

Missouri Valley College is 1-0 to start the 2024 season. The Vikings defeated Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina on Feb. 2 3-0; 26-24, 25-21, 25-16.

This season, MVC is averaging 16.3 kills per set, 15.6 assists per set, 2.5 blocks per set, 1.3 service aces per set, and 11.6 digs per set. The Vikings have a .323 attacking percentage.

They are ranked first in the NAIA in kills per set (16.3), eighth in attacking percentage (.323), first in assists per set (15.6), 29th in service aces per set (1.3), fifth in digs per set (11.6), 47th in solo blocks (2), seventh in blocks per set (2.5), 45th in blocking errors (1), and first in points per set (20).

Driss Gousson leads MVC in kills per set, averaging five. He has a .565 attacking percentage. Lucas Rodrigues is the team's leader in assists (12.6) per set. Leonardo Leao is MVC's leader in digs (4) per set and Samuel Stafford leads the team in blocks (1.3) per set.
