Oskaloosa, Iowa- The Ottawa women's lacrosse team got their first win of the season as they beat William Penn by a score of 26-9 on Saturday afternoon in Oskaloosa.
Ottawa wasted no time building a lead, with the Braves scoring 7 to the Statemen's 3 in the first period. After a 6-2 second frame, Ottawa led 13-5 at halftime. Ottawa kept the momentum going with 5-3 and 8-1 periods to finish the game.
Mackenzie Simmons lead Ottawa with 11 goals.
Curstin Brown scored 5, and
Ashley Santillan scored 4. Simmons and Santillan had 2 assists each.
Shelby Bearden made 8 saves.
Ottawa (1-4, 0-0 KCAC) returns to play on Tuesday, March 12 as they travel to Canton, Mo. for a road game at Culver-Stockton College. The game is scheduled to start at 4 PM.
