Women's Flag Football Hosts Southwestern on Wednesday

The Braves are on a five game winning streak, dating back to last season's victory in the national championship game. Ottawa is 4-0 in the KCAC and enters Wednesday's game coming off a 34-0 win at the University of Saint Mary on Feb. 27 and a 75-0 victory over Cottey College on Feb. 28.

In the win over Saint Mary, Ottawa finished the game with 208 yards of offense, 153 yards passing and 55 yards rushing. Saint Mary had 50 yards of offense, 48 yards passing and two yards rushing. Madysen Carrera was 15-for-27 through the air for 153 yards and three touchdowns. She led OU in rushing with 27 yards. Marley Spielberg and Mandolyn Scalisi led OU with four receptions apiece. Spielberg led OU in receiving yards with 61. She had two receiving touchdowns and Bailey Hodgins had one receiving touchdown. Abby Brown led OU with four flag pulls. Jukanie Washington was right behind her with three flag pulls. Dejonice Parris and Teliyah McInnis each had an interception and returned them for a touchdown.

In OU's victory over Cottey College, Ottawa finished the game with 447 yards of offense, 31 yards rushing and 416 yards passing. Cottey had 135 yards of offense, 131 yards passing and four yards rushing. The OU defense forced six Comet punts, had three interceptions, and had six sacks for 29 yards. Madysen Carrera led OU in rushing with 20 yards. She was 15-for-19 through the air for 273 yards and six touchdowns. Marley Spielberg was 5-for-9 through the air for 115 yards and four touchdowns. Cynthia Homs had six receptions for 94 yards and two touchdowns. Marley Speilberg led OU with 101 receiving yards. Jaida Bayron had three touchdown receptions. Leilani Caamal led OU with 11 flag pulls. She had one tackle for loss, one interception, and one pass break up. Hannah Serquina finished the game with seven flag pulls, two sacks, and two pass break ups. Alyssa Gillespie had six flag pulls, two sacks, and one pass break up.

This season, Ottawa is averaging 51.8 points per game. They are averaging 331.5 yards per game, 49.3 rushing and 282.3 passing. Opponents are scoring 4.5 points per game. They are averaging 144.5 yards per game, 9.0 rushing yards and 135.5 passing yards.

Ottawa has outscored opponents, 207-18 and has held teams to a total of 36 yards rushing.

Madysen Carrera leads OU in rushing yards with 144. She has scored two rushing touchdowns. Carrera is OU's leader in passing. She is 77-for-108 through the air for 986 yards and 22 touchdowns. Carrera is averaging 246.5 passing yards per game.

Cynthia Homs leads OU in receptions with 14. She has 210 receiving yards and four receiving touchdowns. Marley Spielberg and Mandolyn Scalisi are right behind her with 12 receptions apiece. Spielberg leads OU in receiving yards with 240 and five receiving touchdowns.

Leilani Caamal leads OU in flag pulls with 19. She has one touchdown and one pass break up. Jukanie Washington is second on the team in flag pulls with 17. She has one sack, one interception, and two pass break ups. Susann Kaufmann is third on the team in flag pulls with 16. She has three sacks and one pass break up.

Southwestern College is 3-2 overall and 3-2 in the KCAC. The Moundbuilders, after winning their first three games of the season, are now on a two game losing streak with losses to Kansas Wesleyan (19-0) on March 6 and Baker (20-6) on March 9.

The Moundbuilders are averaging 21.3 points per game while allowing 9.8. Southwestern is averaging 153.8 yards of offense per game, 59.8 rushing and 94 yards passing. Opponents are averaging 149.5 yards of offense per game, 27.8 yards rushing and 121.8 yards passing.

Miranda Dooley is the team's leader in passing, averaging 66.3 passing yards per game She is 35-for-72 through the air and has thrown four touchdowns and four interceptions. Dooley leads SWC in rushing, averaging 36.3 yards per game. She has 145 yards rushing this season and has scored four touchdowns.

Vivianna Solis leads Southwestern in receiving with 12 receptions for 102 yards. She is averaging 25.5 receiving yards per game and has two receiving touchdowns. Solis also leads the Moundbuilders in flag pulls with 14. She has two interceptions and two pass break ups.

This is the first meeting between Ottawa University and Southwestern College.
