Men's Volleyball Travels to Dordt on Thursday and (9) Jamestown on Saturday

Ottawa fell 3-2 to Kansas Wesleyan University last Friday but rebounded to take a 3-0 victory over Central Christian College last Saturday afternoon.

In the loss to KWU, Ottawa finished the match with 73 kills, a .206 attacking percentage, 69 assists, six service aces, 93 digs, and 10 team blocks. Akeil Williams and Max Baumann finished with a double-double. Williams had 26 kills and 15 digs. Baumann finished the match with 19 kills and 14 digs. Williams also had five blocks. Kadeem Morris was the other Brave with double digit kills. He had 13. Kade Zrna and Andrew Salinas also had double-doubles. Zrna had 34 assists and 14 digs. Salinas finished with 25 assists and 20 digs. Nazmi Bayoglu had 23 digs. Tim Schutzbach finished the match with seven blocks.

In the OU win over Central Christian, Ottawa finished the match with 36 kills, a .347 attacking percentage, 34 assists, six service aces, 34 digs, and four team blocks. Grant Younie and Kadeem Morris led the Braves with nine kills apiece. Morris had three blocks. Kade Zrna led the Braves with 18 assists and Andrew Salinas had 14 assists Nazmi Bayoglu finished the match with 10 digs.

The Braves broke the school record for team attack attempts (204), team digs (93), and Akeil Williams set a new school record for attack attempts (89) in the loss to KWU last Friday.

This season, Ottawa is averaging 10.6 kills per set, 10.1 assists per set, 2.00 blocks per set, 1.25 service aces per set, and 11.4 digs per set. The Braves have a .156 attacking percentage.

Williams is ranked 27th in the NAIA in kills (246), 27th in kills per set (3.7), 28th in total attacks (569), 44th in attacking percentage (.267), fifth in solo block (22), 16th in block assists (61), ninth in total blocks (83), first in blocks per set (1.2), 20th in points (307.5), and seventh in points per set (4.7).

Thursday is the 19th meeting between Ottawa University and Dordt University. The Braves lead the series, 13-5. Dordt defeated OU 3-1 in the first match this season in Wilson Field House on March 15. OU has a record of 4-4 against Dordt in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Defenders won the match in Sioux Center last season, 3-0. The first ever match between the two teams happened on Feb. 13, 2016 in Sioux Center, Iowa. The Defenders won the match 3-2.

Saturday is the 14th meeting between Ottawa University and the University of Jamestown. The Jimmies lead the series, 13-0. Jamestown won the first match between the two teams this season, 3-0, in Wilson Field House on March 16. The first ever match between the two teams took place on Feb. 29, 2020 in Wilson Field House. The Jimmies won the game, 3-0.

Dordt University has an overall record of 6-10, a GPAC mark of 4-3, and has a record of 3-3 at home this season. The Defenders enter Thursday's match coming off a 3-0 loss to Jamestown on March 28.

This season, Dordt is averaging 12.02 kills per set, 10.9 assists per set, 1.7 blocks per set, 1.4 service aces per set, and 12.2 digs per set. DU has a .185 attacking percentage.

The University of Jamestown has an overall record of 16-1, a GPAC mark of 7-0, is on an eight match winning streak, is ranked ninth in the NAIA, and has a record of 6-0 at home this season.
