OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. – The (RV) Ottawa University softball team ended its season with an 11-1, five inning, loss to no. 2 Oklahoma City University in the NAIA Opening Round – Oklahoma City Bracket. The tournament was held at Ann Lacy Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.
The Stars struck first, taking a 1-0 lead over the Braves in the top of the first inning. Oklahoma City increased its lead with three runs in the second, two in the third, and three in the fourth to take a 9-0 lead over OU.
In the bottom of the fourth, Ottawa cut into the lead.
Emma Melvin was hit by a pitch and
CaiLyn Nye entered the game as a pinch runner.
Megan Kennedy walked, moving Nye to second.
Rachel Pederson's single up the middle loaded the bases for the Braves.
Macy Roever scored Nye with a sacrifice fly to right and OU trailed 9-1.
The Stars scored two more runs in the fifth, taking an 11-1 lead over the Braves. Ottawa was not able to extend the game in the bottom of the fifth and OCU took the 11-1 victory.
