BELLEVUE, Neb. – The (25) Ottawa University women's volleyball team earned its first win of 2024, defeating Dordt University 3-0; 25-23, 25-17, 25-11; on Saturday morning at the GoSarpy.com Classic.
How it Happened
- Ottawa fell behind early in set one. OU clawed its way back, taking a 14-13 lead over the Defenders on a Campbell Stark kill. Dordt responded, retaking the lead 22-20. Kills by Radaisy Valdez and Marissa Neal tied the set at 22 all. DU retook the lead on the next point, 23-22. Ottawa answered by scoring the final three points of the set to take the victory. A kill by Valdez tied the set, 23-23. Two straight blocks by Arian Arciniega and Stark gave the Braves a 25-23 victory.
- In set two, the Braves trailed 4-1 to the Defenders. The Braves rallied and after two kills by Stark and a kill from Hollie Peters, the Braves led 10-7. OU continued to build upon its lead and after a kill from Kira Cherry and Neal, the Braves had an 18-12 lead. Ottawa held the Defenders in check for the remainder of the set, taking the 25-17 victory.
- Ottawa dominated set no. 3, hitting.464 in the final set of the match. The Braves jumped out to a 9-2 lead and never looked back, taking the 25-11 victory.

- OU had three players with double-figure kills. Campbell Stark led OU with 13 kills. She had a .667 attacking percentage and four blocks.

Ottawa (1-2) will now travel to San Antonio, Texas to participate in the San Antonio Shin Dig, hosted by Our Lady of the Lake University. The Braves will play the host on Thursday, Aug. 29 at 7:00 p.m.
