Women's Soccer Opens Up Season at Home Against Baker

Ottawa, KAN. - The Ottawa women's soccer team will open up their season with a rivalry game as they host Baker at AdventHealth Field.
  • The Braves are coming off a 7-6-7 2023 season, which saw the Braves post a 7-1-5 KCAC record, good for a fifth place finish in the conference.
  • From the 2023 squad, Ottawa returns six starters, including KCAC Second-Team midfielder Erin Wetterstrom and 2022 KCAC Honorable Mention defender Riley Smith.
  • In all, the Braves return 15 from last season, and have supplemented the roster with 14 newcomers.
  • Ottawa's opponent in this match is Baker, who come into the game with a 1-2 record. The Wildcats' win was over future OU opponent McPherson, and the two losses were to (10) Cumberland and Missouri Baptist.
  • Baker's offensive leaders are Emma Schieber and Darcy Cato, who have put up 7 and 6 points, respectively.
  • The Wildcats have used three goalkeepers this season, with Freshman Avery Young with the most minutes and most starts.
  • Baker leads the all-time series between the two teams, winning eight and losing just once. Two games have ended in a tie. The last matchup between Ottawa and Baker was a 1-0 victory for the Wildcats in 2019. This will be Candice Fabry's first match against Ottawa's rivals to the north.
