BARTLESVILLE, Okla. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team fell 3-1; 11-25, 14-25, 25-22, 19-25; to (6) Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Wednesday night.
Kenzie Kuxhaus finished the night with 23 digs, surpassing 2,000 digs for her career.
How it Happened
- Oklahoma Wesleyan dominated the first two sets, winning set one 25-11 and set two 25-14.
- In set three, OKWU took the early lead but Ottawa clawed its way back and led 9-6 after an Eagle attacking error. Oklahoma Wesleyan rallied, taking a 12-11 lead over the Braves. A kill by Bailee Nickel and a bad set by OKWU gave the Braves a 13-12 lead. Ottawa increased its lead to 17-15 on a kill by Ariana Arciniega and a block by Kira Cherry. The Eagles did not go away and got to within one point, 23-22. Ottawa was able to close out the set on back-to-back kills by Arciniega and OU took set three 25-22.
- The Braves scored the first three points of set four. A kill by Arciniega gave OU a 6-2 lead. The Eagles rallied, outscoring the Braves 13-7 to take a 15-13 lead. Ottawa tried to stage a comeback. Kills by Cherry and Hollie Peters cut the OKWU lead to 19-17. OU could not complete the comeback and the Eagles took the 25-19 victory.
