(RV) Women's Volleyball Defeats (25) Columbia, 3-1

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The (RV) Ottawa University women's volleyball team earned its second straight victory with a 3-1; 25-20, 16-25, 25-19, 25-21; win over (25) Columbia College. The win was OU's first at Southwell Arena against the Cougars.

How it Happened
  • Set one went back and forth with OU taking a 19-18 lead on a Cougar service error. The Braves increased their lead over Columbia on kills by Radaisy Valdez, Brittan Lee, and Ariana Arciniega, 22-18. Columbia could not respond and OU took a 25-20 victory.
  • With Ottawa leading set two, 6-4, Columbia scored 13 straight points to take a 17-6 lead. OU was unable to rally, and the Cougars took a 25-16 victory.
  • Kills by Arciniega and Campbell Stark gave OU a 9-4 lead over Columbia in set three. The Cougars rallied and tied the set at 10-10. Columbia pushed its lead to 15-12. Ottawa answered by scoring the next three points to tie the set, 15-15. Columbia scored the next point but four straight points by the Braves gave OU a 19-16 lead. Ottawa did not allow Columbia to rally and OU took the 25-19 victory.
  • A block by Valdez gave the Braves an 11-8 lead in set four. Ottawa increased its lead to 17-12 over Columbia on an Arciniega block. Columbia rallied and cut OU's lead to 23-21. That is all the closer the Cougars would get. Arciniega closed out the set with two straight kills and the Braves took the 25-21 victory.
