OTTAWA, Kan. - The Ottawa men's soccer team's winning streak now stands at five as they defeated Kansas Wesleyan by a score of 3-2 on Saturday evening at AdventHealth Field.
Kansas Wesleyan scored the first goal of the game, as Seth Flores converted on a chance in the 22nd minute.
Antonio Natalucci tied the game up for Ottawa with a 33rd minute long range strike. At halftime, the game was tied 1-1. Ottawa took the lead in the 68th minute after a
Sam Hatswell shot was deflected off a Kansas Wesleyan defender and in, the assist going to
Alonso Basauri.
Martin Basso scored an insurance goal in the 74th minute off an assist by
Felipe Padierna, but Kansas Wesleyan erased that lead in the same minute with a Mateo Hoyos goal. The Coyotes had many chances to tie, with multiple shots off the crossbar and shots that required heroics from
David Martinez, but they were not able to convert.
Ottawa led total shots 15 to twelve, both teams took eight shots on goal each.
David Martinez made six saves for Ottawa.
Ottawa (7-1-5, 6-0-2 KCAC) returns to the field on Saturday, October 18 as they travel to Lindsborg, Kansas for a game at Bethany College. That game is scheduled to kick off at 7:30 PM.
