Ottawa dropped its third straight game with a 28-7 loss to no. 6 Friends University on Oct. 4 at AdventHealth Field. Friends rushed for 447 yards on 59 carries (7.6 avg.). Ottawa was limited to just five rushing yards on 17 attempts. Luke Edwards completed 25 of 46 passes for 255 yards, one touchdown, and one interception. Jayden Johnson led the Braves' receivers with seven catches for 88 yards. Defensively, Bryson Nolan and Ethan Yinger paced Ottawa with nine tackles apiece, while Christian Obregon forced a fumble and added six stops.

Through six games this season, Ottawa is scoring 23.5 points per game. The OU offense is averaging 335.8 yards of offense per game, 89.7 yards rushing and 246.2 yards passing. Opponents are scoring 38.8 points per game and averaging 470.5 yards of offense per game, 222.2 yards rushing and 248.3 yards passing. 

Luke Edwards leads the team in passing. He is 115-208 through the air for 1,365 yards and six touchdowns. Edwards is completing 55.3 percent of his passes and is averaging 227.5 yards passing per game. Anthony Powell is OU's leader in rushing. He has 276 rushing yards on 70 attempts, averaging 3.9 yards per carry and 46 rushing yards per game. De'Anthony Curtis leads Ottawa is receptions with 32 and receiving touchdowns wiht three. He is averaging 78.8 receiving yards per game and has two games of over 100 or more yards receiving (Saint Mary - 178 and Sterling - 139). Jayden Johnson is right behind Curtis in receptions with 31. Ethan Yinger is OU's leader in tackles with 40. He has two tackles for loss, one pass break up and one recovered fumble. Teagan Flynn leads the team in sacks with seven. Jaden Thatcher is the team's leader in pass breakups with five. 

Ottawa is ranked 26th in the NAIA in passing yards (1,477), 33rd in passing yards per game (246.2), 34th in rushing touchdown (10), 43rd in first downs (114), 34th in passing first downs (61), 27th in penalty first downs (12), 45th in third down conversion percentage (.400), 39th in fourth down conversion percentage (.500), 13th in field goals (7-11), 36th in punting average (.377), fourth in fumbles recovered (7), 47th in tackles (365), 13th in sacks (16), 33rd in penalties (36), and 41st in penalty yards (355). 

Saturday is the third game between Ottawa University and Evangel University. EU leads the series 2-0, defeating OU 27-14 on Sept. 28, 2024 in Ottawa and 27-21 on Sept. 23, 2023 in Nixa, Mo.

Ottawa is 1-2 on the road this season with its road victory coming at Sterling College on Sept. 13. In three road games this season, OU is averaging 306 yards per game while opponents are averaging 415 yards per game. 

The Valor snapped their two game losing streak with a 7-6 victory over Kansas Wesleyan University in Nixa, Mo. on Oct. 4. In what proved to be a low scoring affair, a late touchdown by Evangel proved to be the difference, as EU took a 7-6 win on Homecoming over the Coyotes. Draven VanGilder led Evangel with 13 tackles, while Erik Spring finished with 12 tackles and the game-winning interception. Talon Stephens also recorded an interception in the win while VanGilder and Jaren Foster recorded tackles for loss. Reid Potts finished his day with 179 passing yards and a touchdown pass, while James Dowdy led all receivers with 65 yards receiving. Eric Williams II finished his afternoon with 43 yards on the ground.

In six games this season the Valor offense is averaging 397.3 yards per game, 209.5 passing yards and 187.8 yards rushing. Evangel is scoring 27.5 points per game. Opponents are scoring 21.5 points per game and averaging 367 yards of offense (186.5 yards rushing and 181 yards passing).

EU is ranked 41st in the NAIA in scoring (165), 46th in points per game (27.5), 25th in total offense (2,384), 34th in yards per game (397.3), 41st in passing yards (1,257), 14th in rushing yards (1,127), 17th in rushing attempts (227), 20th in rushing yards per game (187.8), 22nd in yards per rush (5.0), 16th in rushing touchdowns (14), 24th in first downs (133), 33rd in first downs per game (22.2), fourth in defensive touchdowns (10), 42nd in tackles (370), 42nd in sacks (11), ninth in penalties (26), and 17th in penalty yards (265). 

Reid Potts leads EU in passing. He is 103-156-3 for 1,227 yards and nine touchdowns. Potts is averaging 204.5 passing yards per game. Eric Williams II is the Valor's leader in rushing with 515 yards on 100 attempts. Williams has scored six rushing touchdowns and four receiving touchdowns. He is averaging 5.2 yards per carry and 85.8 rushing yards per game. Broc Lyle leads the team in receptions with 23, an average of 3.8 receptions per game. He has three receiving touchdowns and is averaging 61.5 receiving yards per game. Daven VanGilder is the team's leader in tackles with 51. He has 6.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Cullen Snow leads the Valor in interceptions with three and Deacon Peterson is EU's leader in sacks with three.
