Football and Tabor Meet in OU's 94th Homecoming Game on Saturday

Ottawa is 2-5 overall and 0-1 in the KCAC Kessinger Division. The Braves are 1-2 at AdventHealth Field this season. 

The Braves are on a four game losing streak after falling 28-23 to (RV) Evangel University last Sunday at Eagle Stadium in Nixa, Mo. In the loss, Ottawa had 361 yards of offense (297 yards passing and 64 yards rushing). 

Through seven games this season the Braves are averaging 339.4 yards of offense per game, 86 yards rushing and 253.4 yards passing. OU's offense is scoring 23.4 points per game. Opponents averaging 443.7 yards of offense per game, 205.6 yards rushing and 238.1 yards passing, and scoring 37.3 points per game. 

Luke Edwards leads the Braves in passing. He is 141-249 through the air for 1,662 yards and seven touchdowns. Edwards is completing 56.6 percent of his passes and is averaging 237.4 passing yards per game. Anthony Powell is OU's leader in rushing yards. He has 330 yards rushing on 76 attempts, averaging 4.3 yards per carry. Powell has scored three rushing touchdowns and is averaging 47.1 rushing yards per game. Jayden Johnson is OU's leader in receptions (43) and receiving yards (556). He is averaging 79.4 receiving yards per game. Johnson has two receiving touchdowns. 

Ethan Yinger leads the Braves in tackles with 49. He has three tackles for loss, four pass break ups, and one recovered fumble. Cade Monroe is second on the team in tackles with 31. He has 5.5 tackles for loss, one pass break up, and one forced fumble. Christian Obregon has 30 tackles, one pass break up, one forced fumble, and two recovered fumbles. Teagan Flnn leads the Braves in sacks with 7.5 and Elijah Hann is OU's leader in interceptions with two. 

Ottawa is ranked 44th in the NAIA in total offense (2,376), 25th in passing yards (1,774), 28th in passing yards per game (253.4), 29th in rushing touchdowns (12), 30th in passing first downs (74), 44th in penalty first downs (12), 30th in kick return average (22.1), 45th in field goal percentage (.667), 36th in average per punt (37.7), eighth in recovered fumble (7), 19th in sacks (17), and 44th in penalties (44). 

Saturday is OU's 94th Homecoming game. The Braves are 62-31 in those games. The first homecoming contest was on Nov. 18, 1922 against Pittsburg State University at the Athletic Field. Pitt State won the game 14-0. 

Oct. 25 will be the 47th game between Ottawa University and Tabor College. Ottawa leads the series 31-15 but the Bluejays are on a three game winning streak. Ottawa's last win at home against Tabor was on Oct. 2, 2021, 45-22.  OU has a home record of 17-8 against Tabor. The first ever game between the two teams was on Nov. 1, 1969 in Ottawa. The Braves won the game 36-7. 

The Bluejays are 3-4 overall and 1-0 in Kessinger Division play after defeating Bethel College last Saturday 36-7. Tabor finished the win against Bethel with 342 yards of offense, an average of 5.1 yards per play. TC had 187 yards rushing and 155 yards passing. 

Through seven games this season, Tabor's offense is averaging 267.1 yards per game (86.9 yards rushing and 180.3 yards passing). The Bluejays are scoring 21.1 points per game. Opponents are averaging 375 yards of offense per game, 188.4 yards passing and 188.6 yards rushing. Tabor is allowing 28.9 points per game. 

Three quarterback have seen action under center this season for the Bluejays: Ahmad Bailey, Jerome Stewart, and Tarent Moniz-Babb. Bailey leads the team with 841 yards through the air (84-138) and 12 touchdowns. He has scored a team high three rushing touchdowns. Bailey is completing 60.9 percent of his passes and has throwing seven interceptions. Cameron Collier leads the Bluejays in rushing with 336 yards on 54 carries. He is averaging 6.2 yards per carry and has scored one touchdown. AJ King is TC's leader in receptions with 43. He has a team high 522 receiving yards and 10 receiving touchdowns. King is averaging 74.6 receiving yards per game. 

Dusty Daigle leads Tabor in tackles with 53. He has 9.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, on pass break up, and one forced fumble. Cam Pair is second on the team in tackles with 42. He has two pass break ups, one forced fumble and one blocked kick. Darriene Gibbs leads the team in sacks with 2.5 and Xavian Michel and Zach Sandoval are the team leaders in interceptions with two apiece. 

Tabor is ranked 21st in the NAIA in passing touchdowns (16), 46th in rushing attempts (228), 34th in passing first downs (72), 44th in third down conversions (37-103), 23rd in fourth down conversions (10-15), fourth in punt return average (22.1), 14th in average per punt (40.4), 17th in recovered fumbles (6), 38th in defensive INTs (7), 46th in tackles (430), first in penalties (24), and fifth in penalty yards (234).
