Women's Basketball is on the Road at Cottey in a Non-Conference Contest

The Braves are 5-1 overall and 2-1 in the KCAC. Ottawa is on a two game winning streak after defeating McPherson College 95-70 last Saturday in Wilson Field House. As a team, the Braves shot 45.7 percent from the floor, had 13 3-pt field goals, 50 rebounds, and 18 assists. 

In the win over McPherson last Saturday, Dominique Schutte scored a season high 30 points. That total is one off her career high of 31 that was set against Friends University on Jan. 4, 2025. Her seven made 3-pt field goals ties her for fifth in the OU record book in single game 3-pt field goals made. 

Through six games this season, Ottawa is averaging 84.5 points, 42.5 rebounds, and 17.2 assists per game. OU is shooting 44 percent from the floor, 30.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 69.8 percent from the free throw line. 

McKinley Kruger leads Ottawa in scoring (11.3) and steals (1.8). Ashlynn Arnsman is OU's leader in rebounding (7.8) and assists (3.3). Clare Williams leads the Braves in blocks (0.8).

The Braves are ranked 19th in the NAIA in points per game (84.5), 24th in field goals made per game (31.2), 20th in field goals attempted per game (70.8), 39th in field goal percentage (.440), 13th in 3-pt field goals made per game (9.8), 10th in 3-pt field goals attempted per game (32.3), 44th in opponent offensive rebounds per game (9.5), 34th in assists per game (17.2), 20th in turnovers per game (13), ninth in opponent steals per game (5.8), 22nd in offensive efficiency (1.076), and 29th in net efficiency (0.262). 

This will be the first game between Ottawa University and Cottey College. From 1894 to 2018, Cottey competed as a member of the NJCAA. On July 1, 2018, the Comets became a member of the NAIA. 

Ottawa is 2-1 on the road this season, averaging 76.7 points per game and shooting 44 percent from the floor, 26.8 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 74.5 percent from the free throw line. Opponents are scoring 68 points per game and shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, 32.2 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 65 percent from the free throw line. 

In non-conference play, the Braves are scoring 91 points per game while holding opponents to 55. In Ottawa's three KCAC games, OU is scoring 78 points and opponents are scoring 73. 

Cottey College has an overall record of 0-7 and is 0-1 at home this season. The Comets are on a nine game losing streak, dating back to the 2024-25 season. CC's last victory was on February 20, 2025 at Crowley's Ridge College, 57-46. 

Through seven games this season, Cottey is averaging 49.6 points, 33.6 rebounds, and 7.6 assists per game. The Comets are shooting 36.3 percent from the floor, 26.4 percent from behind the 3-pt line, and 55.2 percent from the free throw line. 

Gabrielle Burrus leads the Comets in scoring (15.6) and assists (2.3). Andrea Aragon is CC's leader in rebounding (4.1), Makenzie Haynes is Cottey's leader in blocks (0.6), and Karol Key leads the team in steals (1.6). 

Cottey is ranked 47th in the NAIA in opponent defensive rebounds per game (23.7), 16th in personal fouls per game (13.4), and 16th in offensive efficiency (1.069).
